Amazon has the refurbished D-Link DIR-655 Xtreme N Gigabit Router for $45 with free shipping. It delivers up to 14x faster speeds and 6x farther range than 802.11g, with a 4-port 10/100/1000 Gigabit switch that connects Gigabit wired devices.

I replaced my old G router with this and have had nothing but trouble. Short range and dropped connections are the problems. I re-connect my old Buffalo router in the same location and everything is fine. Even with high gain antennas connected it is clearly not up to the job. What a waste of cash.

Your Mileage May Vary, apparently. I have this router with zero issues. Upgraded my trusty Zyxel X-550 G router with it.

    #1 - maybe you're the problem ?
I've had this router for 2 years now with 0 issues , always on and reliable , 130 Mbs connection to my laptop , 1Gbs to my desktop . Paid around $100 at the time , replaced Linksys WRT54G , who was restarting itself all the time

Yeah and Ive had my Linksys WRT54G forever, without any issues. Just returned the famous ASUS RT-N16 router which was having issues with dropping connections. Moral of the story is what works for many, may not work for you.

I actually have BOTH the asus and dlink routers and all work perfectly. Possibilities of rissues are: competing devices on your frequency (check for others using the same), hardware issue, firmware update needed, or user. In no particular order of probability....

I agree with #3. Had it for 2 years. Never had to reboot it once. Great reception and no dropped connections. Replaced a WRT54G that needed frequent reboots. Rock Solid and I love this thing.

This things runs great. This is half the price I bought it for. Mine did break after 1 1/2 yrs of usage but I replaced it with another one. Still running like a champ as of now.
