This has been one of my favorite routers for a long time. However, I've been reading that the latest versions of firmware can be problematic. Buyer beware!
I have this and it's a good router. No complaints so far.

Agreed, great router. About the same price at Costco.
Hardware A3 Firmware 1.21, running fine.
Only bad thing about it is those blue laser beams pretending to be indicator lights. Had to cover them up with electrical tape to avoid blinding airline pilots.

No, I have firmware version 1.11 on all the DIR-655s that I maintain. The newest versions do not allow downgrading of firmware and I'm afraid to try them.
Electrical tape took care of any blue light emission at all for me on this router.
#4, #6, I just shot them out with my bee bee gun.
Although I missed a few times! Not good for the unit or my foot!
This is a good replacement price.
Excellent router. I've owned one for several years with no problems.
The only thing i have to say about this router is make sure you dont update the firmware if you are planing on using the USB 3G feature, looks like they disabled that on the latest released firmware and once upgraded no way back boys....Other than that great solid router
