Amazon has the Daisy Red Ryder BB Rifle for $28 with free shipping. Features a smooth bore, steel barrel, lever action, 650 shot capacity and shoots up to 350 feet per second. You'll shoot yer eye out, kid.
mmmm, maybe you should read the reviews from the >plastic BB< gun and save your $2.00? Especially all of the upset owners that had the plastic trigger break off on them....
The Red Ryder BB gun was available beginning in 1938 and for many years afterward (and indeed, still is), but never in the exact configuration mentioned in the film. The Daisy "Buck Jones" model did have a compass and a sundial in the stock, but these features were not included in the Red Ryder model. The compass and sundial were placed on Ralphie's BB gun but on the opposite side of the stock due to Peter Billingsley being left-handed.
I would rather pay $2 more and get this:

The Red Ryder never had a compass in the stock - the movie was wrong.
