#1 is right. Buy the 8GB version for $150 instead. I convinced a friend of mine to get an 8GB Meizu last week from the Egg. He came up to me this week and said "That was the best purchase I ever made". Now his girlfriend wants one. These things are seriously cool.

This line of players is supposed to be really good. Just this week they have announced the SL version of the M6, which is a bit slimmer and estimated to retail for $110 (4gb) and $150 (8gb). This would explain why the thicker version is lowering to $90-100.

Was looking at this yesterday. If they've 'just announced' a new model - in china - it probably won't be available overseas for a year.

The new creative Zen 4GB is ~$130 right now, has a larger screen and a full-size SD slot. Seems pretty competitive.

Also: try to find/watch some movies of these things before buying.. If a $20 premium nets you a superior interface that you'll use for 'years to come'..

I've owned this player for a few months, and like it a lot. Audio output is very strong and clear, and the user interface is easy to learn. Video playback was originally specified as 18fps, but the newer firmwares bump it up to 20fps. You have to re-encode videos to 320x240 with the correct bitrate and other parameters (playback codec is XviD), but Meizu has an free encoder that you can download that works well and makes re-encoding easy. I have an AMD Opteron dual core at 2.4GHz, and I can re-encode a 42 minute downloaded TV episode in a little over 9 minutes. Looks great on the Meizu.

I use the player in mass storage mode and use Windows Explorer to move audio and video to the device, but it also supports the mode where you can transfer files to it via Windows Media Player (I've never done this).

sure, buy a gps to listen to music. I bet the sound quality on that is crappier than an Ipod.
