    Still too much money for a 'smart' external enclosure. It isn't even a NAS (no ethernet).

    #1: Could you point us to some of the reviews to which you're referring? I'm considering one of these (well, a DroboPro, actually), but haven't done any serious research yet.

    I have a first gen drobo with 4x 1tb wd green drives hanging off my wd tv and am liking it a lot so far.. it's only got USB2.0 so I have to mount it on my PC to move files around, but that's not too bad.. seems to do it's job pretty well. It's kind of non traditional raid, I call it a "data management system" as it's always calculating where your data should be on it's available disks to maximize redundancy.. anyways.. I think it's pretty cool.
