Great product, but with network storage having been out for years and USB 3 on the market, this device is behind the times.
For the record, this company has models with USB3 and Gb Ethernet, but they are more than twice the price.
This device is appropriate for someone looking for:
1) zero-maintenance
2) a device requiring no prerequisite knowledge to operate
3) protection from single drive failures
*who is willing to make a speed:price trade-off.*
If you are not willing to make that trade, spend the extra coin on an updated version.
If you are comfortable building and maintaining your own RAID setup, go ahead and scoff at the price. This device was not intended for you.
