This is a Samsung ML-2525 with Dell's name on it. If you really want this printer I recommend instead paying $10 more @ 'egg for the "W" version with ethernet and wifi capability, and 64MB memory instead of 8MB. It is discounted till 10/31.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16828112184

Oddly 'egg specs both models as 12K page duty cycle instead of 10K.

Keep in mind, along with the low 10K page duty cycle the standard toner cartridge is only 1500 pages! "High" yield is only 2500 pages. Can you imagine having to order a new toner cartridge every single week? Granted, any business printing that much a month is likely to buy a heavier duty printer.

IMO, that is too low even for a low end B&W laser printer as well as a 2500 page cartridge costing too much at about $70. At least there will eventually be refurb'd or generic cartridges for it, those generally cost about $30 each or 3 for $75 unless Dell has added some kind of preventative measure to force you to buy Dell cartridges like a fuse or microchip added.

They have done that before, they had Samsung add a fuse to the Dell cartridges that weren't in the Samsung cartridges with the Dell version requiring the fuse or else it would reject the otherwise identical Samsung cartridges and all 3rd party carts, and DIY toner refills if you didn't swap the fuse too.

A 3rd party cart manufacturer can add a fuse inexpensively enough but generally the microchips add far too much to the cost of a low capacity cartridge like this takes. I wonder which if either it uses.

#1 "Horrible experience"? Did the printer touch you in your naughty place? Did it tell you that it banged my mom like a snare drum?

Just say that the printer sucked and stop being so melodramatic.

My 1st one fails in 3 months. Got a replacement unit for a few months and it got all light on and dead again. Sent back to Dell for 3rd one. The 3rd one works but people sit around the printer complain burning smell. I guess the shipping cost is already over the purchase price. So just dump it and get $50 Brother printer from Staples- then I got no problem at all.
