been using this for about 2 weeks now. My thoughts in brief:

      1. it IS a glossy screen, but can be converted rather cheaply to an anti-glare screen using Rad Tech's Clear Cal film. Looks GREAT and was very easy to install.

      2. very good brightness and sharpness. USB works fine for me. two ports on the side of the monitor + two on the back. I have a wireless keyboard+mouse dongle (logitech) in the back and it works fine. don't plan on using the camera.

      3. color variation from top to bottom of screen is HORRIBLE and UNACCEPTABLE. setting back an arm's length from the screen I can easily see the top being more of a reddish-brown hue while the bottom is a blue hue. This is more striking when viewing documents or web pages with a white background. none the less, it is a disappointment and i did not notice this on the other brands i saw when looking prior to the holidays. also, the monitor tilts slightly to the left and no matter what i do, it cannot be remedied via the monitor components/base/arm. i may attach it to a different monitor arm eventually and the arm/base that ships with it does not allow for all that much adjustment. finally, the viewing angle is VERY LIMITED.

      4. mine came with a 3 year warranty

      5. touch-sensitive controls are not that bad, i like the menus and system it uses. there are 6 presets for color, one of which is user definable.

      6. for the price, i suppose this isn't a bad product if one doesn't mind glossy screens out-of-the-box. i liked the options and discount + warranty at the time i bought. the color problem would be a turn-off for graphic artists, but playing video and other general use, it is not an issue for me at least. If I had to do it over again, I would perhaps look at an acer.

I've been using this monitor for a couple of month now when this deal first appeared. It's a very nice monitor. I'm loving the 80,000:1 contrast (DC) and the brightness, which I think is better than all the low to mid line 24" out there. The build in webcam is a nice touch and the motion sensors on the power button is helpful when you have to find your monitor in the dark.

about the only thing that might get on your nerve is that there is limited height adjustmet on this monitor. The hinge in the back ish deceptive, it doesn't stand all the way up.

No. 1, you must've gotten a bad one. My monitor is excellent. I came from an Acer 24 inch model which did not display text well. The Acer has a matte finish which actually clouds the image. I find the glossy screen to be a positive, particularly for text. Where this monitor really excels, however, is in gaming. Because of the high contrast ratio, you can actually see well in dark areas. I thought I had a good image on the Acer until I saw the Dell. I will never game on the cruddy Acer again.
