Fantastic monitor but crazy expensive even at $449. Does have an PVA panel though.
Yeh but hard to justify when the 22" is available for 159 bucks
#2 - That 22in for $159 is probably a TN monitor, this is an S-PVA screen, much higher quality. That's why there's such a price difference.
You can learn more about LCD types here.

have to agree with #1. To many in the $250 range. Different panels or not its not $200 worth to me.
Yes fortlag. I am aware of most of the various types of panels. I own the 30 inch Dell myself. But still, not really 290 Dollars worth of additional performance here regardless how you slice and dice it.
slice and dice it! lulz.
#5,
Maybe not to you, but it is worth it to some of us. For most people who just sit in front of their web browser, email, Word, Excel, FPS or other games, etc. it's not worth it. If you need more accurate color representation, it's worth it.
I have an "old" Samsung 213T (21.3" PVA) at home that I wouldn't trade for any new 24-26" TN panel - especially not the 24" Dell TN I'm using now. And I'm one of those that thinks that there is no such thing as "too big" when it comes to monitors.
TN panels aren't the horrible things that people make them out to be on this site, but if you have a choice, you can tell a big difference between the two. For what it is, it's a good price.
#5 I have a 30 " ER myself. =P
This is the monitor I use at work - it's awesome, but tough for me to shell out that kind of money for home use.

Doesn't work at all...
If only these bad boys would drop under $350...

#14, thanks, it works now.
The deal is for Dell small & medium business but Ben has Dell home & home office linked.
Dell makes good lcd monitors but you have to pay a premium over others like Acer.
I want a return to H-IPS.
I understand where you are comnig from #7. But, if you have a video card that can handle it, and a few hundred extra, I suggest going for a refurbished 30" from Dell. The resolution is incredible and the picture is as accurate for an LCD as I have seen (but you must calibrate it). For editing photos I would never go back. 1920 x 1200 looks positively 'coarse' to me now when I see it on other monitors.
