This is the best monitor I have ever seen, hands down. I bought a refurbished one from ebay. After using it for a month, now I wish if I had bought a brand new one.

This monitor runs relatively cool. I use a dual monitor setup of 23" HP (VA panel) at work. It gets very hot causing eyes to get dried.

By the way, couple of weeks back its price came down to around $480.

      Highly recommended.

monitor may be nice but is still too expensive given the current economic climate.

#4, your monitors run so hot that they dry your eyes out?

Dell's Ultra Sharp models are very nice. I believe this is a P-MVA panel, which will have more input lag than all the cheaper TN panels (~$280-450 for 24"), but much better backlight, color representation, and much better viewing angles. There are 24" models for $280-350, but they are all TN panels.

      #1, and everyone else:

      ^^ Read this!

      Cliff notes:
Input lag: TN (best) < IPS < VA (worst)
Everything else (color, black level, viewing angles): IPS (best) > VA > TN (worst)
      Cost: TN ($) < VA ($$) < IPS ($$$)

I have this model, bought 3 months ago, and an older 2405FPW. I also use a 2407 at work. All 3 are excellent.
This is pretty much the best monitor available. Aside from the quality, it also offers 8 inputs (VGA, 2 * DVI, DisplayPort, HDMI, Component, S-Video, Composite), picture in picture (at various sizes and configurations), 4 USB outlets and media card readers (sure, the latter is low cost, but it's very convenient on a cramped desktop).
These things used to retail for ~$700 and rarely dropped, so the ~$500 deals recently have been great.

great monitor but ridiculous price; should be $399 or less by now. Don't be fool. The whole world goes for 24" lcd so price should be much lower.

How do I explain to the guy in a India call center using a fake Americanized name that the LCD is frying my eyeballs?

"Sir, can you look at the screen please?" It's cooking my freaking eyeballs when I look at the screen, don't you understand?

(Or are you posting it from next cubicle?)

BTW, why do you think it is such a shame to be an Indian or being in India?
