i understand that this is more environment friendly and power efficient. however, is this any easier on the eyes than lcds?

for example, lcds are better for the eyes than crts. do leds offer any such advantage, even if differently (since of course, we're talking different kind of technologies)? lcds are fine but i always welcome improvement.

any news of an ultra sharp version of this?

      1920 x 1080? What gives a 24" should be 1920 X 1200.

One White LED Backlight, not RGB. It helps to improve white uniformity, backlight bleeding, power consumption but not display quality. And this is TN Panel that cannot beat IPS or VA.

Here's another review of LED Backlight TN Monior.

#2 - this is a 16x9 widescreen (HDTV size) rather than 16x10 widescreen (monitor size). Thus shorter vertically and thus fewer vertical pixels.

I'm with #2. I want real estate. 24" monitors should be 1920x1200. I'm not buying a TV to watch DVD's, I buying a computer monitor to open spread sheets and I want the full 1200.

      is 120 / 1200 ~ 10% pixel reduction really that big of a deal?

I still miss the squarer 4x3 standard for larger monitors.

Ok, we've established it's shorter. Any more details on the quality of the display?

Yes #8, when they take away vertical pixels instead of horizontal. 4:3 24" would rule, although it would have to be IPS or *VA, as the TN screens just wash out far too much if there's that great an offset from perpendicular viewing angle due to increased height, it's bad enough on a 16:10 22" TN panel unless you move a few inches further away.

#11, I don't know of a 24" 4x3 monitor but you should at least consider the HP LP2065.
