With low-end 14" notebooks going for only $299 (and even lower this BF), what's the appeal of these things? Yes I know about smaller and lighter, but you give up screen size and an internal DVD/CD drive, yes? After the novelty wears off, just seems like one of those "Remember these?" things you'll be pulling out of the bottom of the junk drawer in about 18 months...

#4 it's pretty much the smaller and lighter that gives these their appeal. Compare this to a 14" laptop and you'll see it is MUCH smaller and lighter. Plus it has longer battery life due to the lower powered components and smaller screen. Netbooks are all about being extremely portable while still being powerful enough to do basic computing like email/web, word processing, etc.

better battery life and they are more portable. They are the perfect addition to a desktop.

I would like to see the ubuntu 10v drop too. It would be nice to not have to pay $20 more for xp.

If you want to change the hard drive you have to take off the keyboard & palm rest.

If you want to upgrade the memory to 2GB you have to take off the keyboard, palm rest, top cover, & finally the motherboard.

Search You Tube for "mini 10v disassembly" & see what a cluster it is.

NY sales tax kills this for me. If only Dell never opened those stupid kiosks all over the place...
