i dont get the purpose of this particular laptop ...specs.... price.... why?

It's targeting those that want a slightly bigger screen than netbooks with more or less the same specs.

The D620 is a great laptop. I used one for over 3 years, traveled, beat the heck out of it and it always worked. It's thinner and wider than the previous D600/610 generation. It's a nice dependable laptop.

I agree with #3. We used a lot of these at my company and they are great machines. Bought a used one at ebay for my son and its been perfect.

I have been using a D620 for the past two years and I find it as durable as the Lenovo/Thinkpad line of laptops.
