When's there going to be some awesome sub-$200 deals like the SC400 and SC420 deals of the old days?

ditto #4. it's had various hard drive and ram transplants over the years, but the original Celeron 2.53 GHz and 80 GB are still in use.

I've upgraded everything that could be upgraded, but the motherboard / PSU / chassis is all original.

#3 Wasn't it fun when you found that SC400 with the undocumented AGP 8X slot for $199!? Retired it as a gaming computer 2 years ago and turned it back into the server it was intended for.

I don't think its bad for what it is. I'm looking for a new server right now, but this time I'm going to spend more money and get something with more longevity... quad core xeon, more ram, raid, 2 nics, etc.

My SC420 is still running strong as a server as well. Added more RAM awhile back and recently swapped the Celeron for a 3.6GHz P4 and have 2 160GB hd's in RAID 1 array. At $200 and very little invested on the upgrades it is one of the best computer deals I've ever bought.

The Dell 400SC was the best computer deal that has ever existed.

This is a deal. Would like it even better if the MB supported a 2nd Opeteron.

Warning, these Dell power supplies usually last 1 year and cost an arm and a leg to replace.

#9 A month ago I just purchased a Dell Poweredge 840 for $530.00 total including tax and shipping. It included a Quad Zeon, 2x1gig 800hz ECC Memory, 2x80gig Hard Drives, with 3 year warranty. So every now and then there is some good deals! A little noisy though.

#14 that sounds like a great deal... I'll keep my eye out. I don't like the noise factor though... I already have 3 PCs/servers running in my office, thankfully they're all pretty quiet. My shitty video card's fan is the noisiest thing.
