I bought myself an Acer Iconia A500 back in July. My 71-year-old mom lives with me and likes to play slot machines (real ones and games on her PC), so I loaded a couple on my tablet to let her play. She was immediately hooked and took over my tablet, so I bought her a Dell Streak 7 Wifi (for $200 after coupon from Staples in July).
The good: Dual core 1GHz nVidia Tegra 2 chip, micro SDHC slot for memory expansion, Honeycomb 3.2 has FINALLY been released for this tablet and is available via automatic updates.
The bad: 800x480 display (capacitive multi-touch, at least), the web sux at 800x480. It's good enough for some light-duty gaming and the Facebook app, though.
The worst: Battery life is TERRIBLE with this tablet. There were hopes that Dell would fix this when they released HC 3.2, but they did not. You will probably not see over 5 hours of runtime with this tablet, and will usually see closer to 4 hours or less if gaming.
800x480 screen resolution makes this a merely-adequate tablet, and the horrid battery life makes this a "not recommended" product. Spend your money on something else.
I may buy a refurbished Nook Color, root it and install a decent Android ROM, and give it to my mom. $150 refurbished, 1024x600 screen resolution, much better battery life, overclockable when rooted. Not as fast as the Streak 7, but will be faster than a 71-year-old. I may wait until the Kindle Fire is released, though, because that will probably drive prices down on a lot of tablets (especially book-oriented tablets like the Nook Color).
