As a photography enthusiast, I can vouch that this is a great display .I've had mine for several months now and paid $999. High color gamut, bright screen and the text is razor sharp.

After lengthy research (and cost was not a major factor), this is a perfect resolution for 27inches. Most likely, you can easily add your current LCD in dual monitor with your graphics card as I do with my old 24" Dell LCD for more realestate. I found that one 30" display was too much information for one panel that (in my case) had to be very close to my face.

How is this any improvement over a 32 LCD TV for a lower price? Do monitors typically have higher resolution and refresh rate?

#4 is the tv you are comparing it to 720p or 1080i or p?
this would be 1080p, so in that way it is probably better

i love how dell manipulates the list price so that the final price after discount always comes out to be the same.

#7, with DVI and no speakers, it doesn't really matter if there is an HDMI port.
