    Oh gosh...so tempting...

Too bad Dell didn't honor the price error of a few months ago (this puppy was slightly over $1000, if I remember correctly). I'm not surprised, though, as they often cancel orders resulting from their own errors.

Amazing but it requires a video upgrade, if not an entire system upgrade for me. I'll just watch and admire.

#7, are you telling me that the ONLY reason you are not spending $1600 on a 30" LCD monitor is because you think a $200 video card is simply out of your budget?

#9, look for cards with dual link DVI (aka DVI-DL). Dual link DVI is one single DVI connector that uses more pins for double the bandwidth, not a card with two DVI connectors. Some cards have two DVI ports, but only support dual link DVI on one of the ports.

NVidia GeForce 6800GT and newer, and ATI X1600 and newer cards are probably safe bets.

    Here's some examples from EVGA.

Binaryvisions, that's not what I meant but I guess a new system is a fraction of the cost of the monitor so it could be understood that way. I'm saying that I don't need a new computer and it would be silly (for me) to even consider buying this if I had to get a new system just to run it to it's potential. If my machine already was equipped to run this, I would consider the monitor and weigh the cost versus other uses I might have for $1,600+. Ultimately, I doubt I would pull the trigger on this because with such a large monitor, I would end up watching movies or TV with it. But I can buy an even larger TV for the price just for watching movies or TV. Actually, I've been readin up on the Infocus 4805 but I don't have the room for a projector screen. I'd probably put my money towards that before upgrading my computer or monitor.

If i were to throw this kind of cash into a monitor, i personally would go with the dual 24" screens for even less $$, especially since i've been using dual monitors (19"x2 crt and now 17"x2 LCD) for 2 yrs. it's hard to get away from. Plus it's even more desktop space!

Ya but the dual 24"s are only wider. Not taller. OMG does a DVD look sweet on this thing with the low pixel size. Can't wait to see what it looks like when HD-DVD's are commonplace in puters...

    unrelated, Anyone hear of this:

The unlikely peacemaker in the high-def DVD format war appears to be Ricoh. The company says it's developed a component that will let manufacturers create hybrid players and drives that can read and write both HD-DVD and Blu-ray discs. Two words: Hot diggity. Now I can actually consider buying high-def DVDs (well, OK, once a player comes out), instead of just waiting in vain for some sort of awesome high-def movie download service. Hmm. Nah, I'm still waiting for that.
