although this is a nice monitor, the fact that you can get comparatively close stuff for significantly less cash = no thanks.

I know dispatchers at several limo companies that use two of these side by side...so you can see lots of info at the same time. It's like having a quad monitor setup, but with two monitors. A good price for this used to be around $1000...so $800 or so is a good deal.

I've played WoW on my 32" LCD at 720 resolution, and it looks great. On a 47" LCD TV at 1080p, I suspect it will look just as good, if not better.

This is not for TV or HDTV viewing, it has 2X the resolution of 1080P HDTV. You can display a 4 megapixel image at full resolution. Great for photoediting and MIDI music composition. Also awesome for viewing maps and surfing the internet. Using word or Excel, you can have several pages displayed at once and view very large spreadsheets without scrolling around.

I bought this when it was $799 with a coupon but ended up downgrading back to my 24" monitor. I will be getting duals instead. This one is just too big.

I use one at home, and love itbacon's easy to have several things up at once without dragging across separate monitors, though I may yet add another monitor too (who needs desk space anyway?).

I bought mine used off CL for like $700, and love it. It does, however, make it a main to deal with the lower rez 22" at work.

My 24" gives me a headache, you need eagle-eyes to read text from 6 feet away.

    I guess I'm saying I don't need 2x the resolution for gaming.

all of you rodeo cowboy who keep on comparing this to tvs need to realize size is not what is important here. this is a 1600P panel not 1080P.

Will 1600p make the picture bigger in front of my face? Because I'm pretty sure a 47" will compared to a 30"

Actually, am thinking about getting this. Want it mainly for doing midi music composition. If I wanted to watch TV or the occassional DVD on this, would it work okay for that too as well?

is 1600p actually worth it on a 30" monitor? i can only answer this question of preference by being in front of a monitor myself which i can't right now. i'm aware that with a monitor you're only 3 feet away whereas with hdtv you have to be 15 feet away. nevertheless, i still suspect that greater resolution should not provide just better detail (which it does) but greater size for you to fully appreciate it. don't know if 30" is big enough given the resolution. i'll find out for myself some day.

anyway, in the meanwhile, i'm content with 1080p. we still haven't gotten accustomed to that technology!

#37 - you're a troll. no one looks into such a product and price range and remains that clueless. they do their research first before discussing purchase.
