Dell Home has the Dell UltraSharp 3007WFP-HC 30 inch Wide-Screen Black Flat Panel Monitor for $1049 with free shipping. This will undoubtedly cause extreme envy amongst your peers.

It will stun you with its 2560x1600 resolution, 11ms response time, and 400 cd/m2 brightness. Requires a DVI-D dual-link graphic card that supports WQXGA resolution. Here is a review and some user discussion on this monitor.

Bought one when they were $1600 on ebay - would do it again in a heartbeat.

And no, its not the same as 2 smaller monitors.

I use it and it works great. It is a bit more difficult to profile, but it can be done with the video card settings. The only control on the monitor is brightness, that's it. Also be sure your video card supports the 2560x1600 resolution, many don't. I'm a photographer and a 16x24 image almost fits to scale, very nice.

In all seriousness, if you have 1 K to blow on monitors, may I suggest getting 2 22" UltraSharps and a high end video card.

#7, this montiror beats 4 22" monitors, it really is impressive in person. simply amazing. However, this is now the old model. and this price has been like this before. I would pay 800 for one of these not much more. Mark my words this price will also go down more too.

i got 2 for 1200 each last april, this is a great deal for these 30s. the price may go down more but this is about the best I've seen since.

    #7's point is good tho

Brilliant, #7. And when my mom wanted a truck, you bought her two Civics.

Dual displays are nice if you have lots of small applications you feel can be best organized in different physical displays. This doesn't apply to most people. Unless you're a day trader who has news feeds on one screen and markets on the other, a single display is almost always best. A single larger display just provides more overall utility.
