Amazon has the DeLonghi GM6000 Gelato Maker with Self-Refrigerating Compressor for $209 with free shipping. Features effective top to bottom mixing paddle and continuous gelato batch making.
I have one of them. It works well but is on the noisy side. Also, as I recall from the directions, if you move the unit, it must sit still for about an hour before using. That's probably to prevent liquid refrigerant from entering the compressor. We've made all sorts of sorbets and fat-free ice "creams" and similar concoctions with it. Paid $89 when a famous kitchen ware store was clearing them out.

I have the Lello ice cream maker. It is similar to this one. It is handy not to have to freeze anything, or use ice and salt.
