no HDMI audio - be sure to factor that in.
Still a good deal
WTF is 75w output/channel can do in this time of age?
Be aware this vender , I just got my Onkyo TX-SR506 today, and it is ref. ( used ), on Ben's post , it did not say ref. unit.
that why the price are cheaper than BB for $100.
no hdmi, no deal. everything is going that way, dvd players, blue ray, tv's - buy a cheap version and get bare bones.
Component and optical audio will do you just as good as HDMI, quality wise. That is unless you're one of those trend setter/got to have the latest guys.
Component won't do as good as HDMI. DVD players don't upconvert CSS encrypted discs over component. Depending on the device and TV there can be substantially better PQ using HDMI instead of component. Optical audio isn't capable of uncompressed lossless audio.
it does have HDMI switching and converting from component. It just doesnt do audio over HDMI, you need the digital output from the DVD on a separate cable or optical link.
denon always has low wattage...this 75 watts is about the 110 watt equivalent with other brands
yep no HDMI audio really kills the deal
You get what you pay for on this. Without HDMI, there really is no reason to buy this unless you plan on using a decade-old system for another ten years (and I know some of you are out there).
Why do you need HDMI audio? Optical is better anyway.
Wrong optical is not a better way. HDMI can send up to 24 mbs audio when decoding Dolby Digital HD or Master Audio. A otical cable cannot handle this bandwith. Not even close between the two.
it's a $200 receiver -
no HDMI audio is just a factor to figure in and optical audio link is totally satisfactory in this very low price range. I dont see a better receiver deal out there at this price for the given features. it's up to the buyer what is important.
75w / channel is plenty of power if your speakers are even a little bit efficient. Honestly, take any two 3-way speakers and run 75w to them at 50% or more output on the receiver and you're going to be yelling at the person next to you to hear each other.
Bigger numbers make guys feel better about themselves.
Yeah, for $200 you're asking a lot with HDMI, etc,,,
never heard of this brand before
#16 that's really sad
I don't believe that there's any difference as far as picture quality goes, but TrueHD and DTS-HD are noticeably better than the formats that an optical cord can carry.
That is very true #18. Maybe that is because TrueHD and DTS-HD are audio codecs not video formats. Especially since optical cords do not carry video usually.
Has anyone made a purchase from 6ave.com before?
