Newegg has Diablo III: Standard Edition (Windows PC) for $50 with free shipping. Set 20 years after the last Diablo, fiery harbinger of doom falls from the heavens, reawakening ancient evils and calling the heroes of Sanctuary. Features Witch Doctor, Barbarian, Wizard, Monk, and Demon Hunter classes, randomized dungeons, and multi-player support.
Waiting for the price to drop to about $30 before I'd even consider playing.. The beta was alright, but not good enough to make me want to drop $50-$60 on it.
Waiting for Torchlight 2
Diablo 3, The Wrath of the Auction House
DRM from Hell. Crashing servers and a constant net connection to even play solo. I'll pass.
I have this and it is fun at first but then terribly repetitive. Lightning did not strike twice for Blizzard, as this is no Warcraft. I recommend waiting, I wish I would have.
I've enjoyed the crap out of this game. I think a hardcore gamer who is always on and always playing might find it repetitive, but then so was D2. Experimenting with many different skills and doing other things in life helps keep games fresh for much longer for me. In my opinion, given how much fun you'll get out of it, it is well worth the $50. Heck, I spend more than that for a night at the movies with the family, and that isn't near as much fun in the long term.
be warned.. do not buy this stupid and pointless game.. amazon rating of 2 stars mean something..
All the bad experiences with disconnects and servers being down were from the first few days. I had problems just like everyone else then, and I've NEVER had a time I couldn't sign on since--it's been rock solid.
All the Amazon reviews are by people bitching about the first few days of problems, or bitching that there's no offline mode, or that there's a RMAH, or that DRM exists, or. The nerds on the internet will take any opportunity to get riled up about nonsense.
All that said, yes it's repetitive. There's only one "game", it only takes a few hours to beat, and then you get to play it again but it's slightly harder. Then you take a few hours to beat that, and then you get to play it again but it's slightly harder. Then you take a few hours to beat that, and then you get to play it again but it's insanely burp hard. Then you quit and start a new character and repeat.
I like this game. It reminds me of the old days. Most of the footage was captured by me when I was 6.
Great game...Create character, get rushed to Act 2 and just keep redoing The Road to Alcarnus (the quest where you go into the room to kill the demons, then you walk outside and soldiers turn into demons... you can level from 10-25 pretty quick.. then go into NM and repeat until 40s, then go into hell repeat til 50s.
I will wait for Torchlight2. The big killers for D3 are having to be on line just to play; and the price or should I say the cost of playing this game. When you just go buy items and have to pay for items because the drop system in the game is so bad, were is the fun in that?
Torchlight2 is already on pre-sell for $20, why would I spend $50 on D3?
Do not buy, or at least wait until price drops.
