I wouldn't trust it in a cheap system. ZZF and their stupid rebates on EVERYTHING they sell.

Diablo = Devil = Hell = Burn in the flames????

Nope, don't think I want to condemn my computer/data to that fate.

    True story:
Friend of mine had some crucial data.
His machine used raid 1 with 2 mirrored drives.
He also had a USB drive hanging off the back of the machine and a scheduled task to copy the vital files there nightly.

3 copies of the vital files.
    Sounds fairly safe.

He went of for a bite to eat.
    Came back.
    Smell of electrical fire.
His PSU overheated, flamed enough to kill both drives and melt the USB drive off the back of the machine.

    Total loss of vital data.

    Moral:
    1. Off-site backups are good.
    2. Cheap PSUs are not good.

Why do you guys talk so poorly about this power supply?

Yes, sometimes cheap power supplies are bad, however according to reviews on newegg, this power supply scored higher than any of the first three comparable antec power supplies I read reviews for.

This one averaged 5 eggs, granted there were only about 8 reviews, but they were mostly 5's and a couple 4's.

Now I read reviews for the firsbaconomparible antec power supplies, in the 500 watt range, which all cost about $60, and they only averaged 4 stars total, and had many poor reviews. There were quite a sizeable number of people that rated them with only 1 egg due to the power supplies failing, or being doa, etc.

Everyone says buy an antec, well in this case, do you really want a $60 antec, that has a higher chance of failing, vs a $10 that has better reviews?

Who says a good power supply has to be expensive? I know I've been running my pc for 4 years on some cheap $15 500W no name brand.

#12 cheap power supplies often use cheaper capacitors, and cheaper, shoddier parts in general; while they do work, they likely do not put out their rated capacity, and if they do they do so with a great deal of ripple and lousy voltage regulation

they are usually inefficient and have either no or passive PFC

I think we have all been there. Buying a cheap ass case that comes with a "500" watt PSU for 30. That was to power the generic P4/AMD XP mobo and cpu. Now things are different. We now have video cards that require power. we have more than the cpu heatsink fan to power. We have hard drives that spins faster and larger capacity. We have multi-core procs. All this is the norm. I think the new stuff is more sensitive to bad power and that is why a lot of folks are recommending a better branded PSU. I would not look at the cost of the PSU as a factor. I would look at their rep and see if they are reliable. There are a few sites that review PSUs. In the end, would you trust a $10 PSU on your $1000+ rig?

All power units are the same. They are all of equal quality. They are all made in two factories in China. They blow a whistle and the new shift changes the packaging. Anyone that thinks the more expensive ones are better is an rodeo cowboy.
I know this because I am MS Certified which is better then being an electrical engineer these days.

There has never been an instance of a house fire from PSU. Silly, pocket billiards talk from geek types.

I know this because I am MS Certified which is better then being an electrical engineer these days because the standards for becoming an electrical engineer have been so degraded and lowered any tool can do it. I am MS Certified which now so much better affording me huge knowledge. I know about satellites too.

I am MS Certified which is a huge accomplishment vs. the dumbed down standards it now takes to be an electrical engineer.

I have so much more knowledge. My knowledge is massive and huge compared to even an above average electrical engineer for example.

Why do you even bother with this nonsense #18?

It is well known that all PSU without blue buttons burst into flames. That's why Cheesewiz comes in a glass jar.

I'm making mortgage payments on a house that lost 50% of its value in the past year. Is this power supply guaranteed to cause a house fire without arousing the suspicion of arson investigators?
