I have this. It works great. I use it to set up the carb on my ruckus.
to determine engine rpm? where do you take a reading?
I take off the belt cover.
I had one of these years ago, before lasers, and they work really nice. My old one was just a strobe light type. Usually they have adhesive stickers to place on whatever you want to check, might get away with just a white line if you're real close. I've used the flywheel or pulley shaft. It also works great to make sure you're playing those old LPs at exactly 33 1/3 rpm
I thought it's to measure how fast my head spins when reading about digital cameras...
-- Okay, what exactly does this do and what's it for? Ben's poorly explanative description only reads, "Measures rotational speed with a visible red light beam."
pretty good deal, cheapy at Tool harbour is $30 on sale, so ifit works and is half that price, not a bad deal.
it's basically a hand held tachometer, good for checking the speed of any motor or anything else that turns.
