Ends today. DirecTV is offering packages starting at $30 per month for 12 months with 24 month agreement. Plus, receive an extra $5 off every month for 12 months on all packages (new customers). The Choice Package includes 150+ channels and free HBO, Starz, Showtime and Cinemax for 3 months.
I thought about joining DTV when they were offering the free NFL package. But after seeing the second year of the contract price double. I stopped thinking.
They offered me a similar deal and I took it. The next thing I knew my bill was twice as much and they claimed there was never a package like the one I signed up for. After my two years were up (rediculous early termination fee). I threatened to cancel and they did nothing to try and keep me. DirecTV was the worst experience of my life.
Worst customer no-service. My partner died a month ago and just as she came home from the hospital she tried to order one favorite channel.
The scum told her she had to order a package we couldn't afford and supposedly gave us 3 free months of Starz. Only they were lying and billing her for Starz and Showtime and had just screwed her over.
Well she died and when they finally shut it off for non-payment, they won't get anything. Direct TV is scum.
I don't think you can call it bait and switch if they clearly lay out the 24 month price plan for you before you buy it. You just have to use your head and read everything before you agree to a contract. This deal is no different than other dish companies. I signed up for Dish a few years back thinking the deal was awesome, only to find myself paying back some of the savings I got in the first few months, but it was only because I was stupid and didn't read all the fine print. When I hard workerand looked at it, it was all there on the original contract. Just read before you sign stuff.
Yeah hell with old customers....

You call these guys and threaten to cancel, though, and it's amazing what they'll do to keep your business...very competitive field these days.

Bait & switch, should be illegal.
