These are Chinese garbage! I got one a year ago and oil pours out of it. The head was warped so bad that the gasket is loose. You canot get replacment parts or service anywhere.
Not worth $100 let alone $300

I have a Champion model of this same Chinese engine. It has preformed admirably the times that I've needed it keeping the lights on and the fridge cold. Engine noise is average - not too loud but not very quite either. Similar to a push mower. Yeah, there are high quality generators (Honda, etc) out there but you'll pay at least 4x more. For me, the low cost option works since it rarely gets used and does it's job.
I bought this in July when it was on sale for $300. I'll let you know next week how it performs unless we get lucky and don't lose power.
If there's one thing I DON'T need it's a gas generator.
