Dyson loses its suction, I had the DC-14 model and within a year, year and a half, the power of the vacuum dropped significantly. I don't know how the C-17 is, but the DC-14 is an overpriced, underperforming product.
The issue with the Dyson is that it's not air tight. They have air spewing out of the machine, which means dust is spewing out of the machine. Although it's a great design and does suck up dirt well. It just puts alot of it into the air instead of on the floor.
So, end result is a vacuum cleaner with a bag will do a better job of separating you from the dirt in your house. If you were built like a lego-land robot gone wrong you would leak too.

Perect for use with #2 in the Conair NE163 9-Piece Personal Grooming above.
Picks up pet hair but leaves other dirt behind.
Dyson is mostly over-priced hype.
Find one at Big lots.
Why pet hair vacuum? Why not HEPA vacuum?
#1 I noticed yesterday that my dyson suck power is not what it used to be ... what gives?
If you want a vacuum that will outlast you, get a Sebo X5. They pay for belts forever.
You have to clean the filter every few months, that's all.
