Even though at this time the smaller sets are still imported, it might give you a warm fuzzy knowing you would be helping a company that is trying to move TV production back here. Larger sets are being assembled in a suburb of Detroit, with plans to ad more assembly lines as demand grows.
American built = PATHETIC build quality. Yeah, I really want my TV made like a Ford or Chrysler. Then the TV companies will need a bail out. This country hasn't made anything good in decades.
^ Depends on what you compare against. Stuff like this is usually made overseas by overworked grunt laborers with peanut wages, not highly skilled craftsmen.
Your automobiles example is a poor one though, years ago foreign companies made vehicles at very little profit and even at a loss just to establish a market demand in the US, while in more recent years American automobiles have been far more competitive except for the factor of union retirement entitlement overhead.
