GoldenGadgets.com has the Emergency AA Mobile Phone Charger for $4 + $2 shipping = $6 shipped. It uses a single AA battery to juice up your cell phone battery, providing about 2 hours of talk time for most phones. Works for Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericcson, and Blackberry.

Unless you travel a lot, I don't see the need for these. I own a couple of them and they just sit and collect dust as I've never had a need for them, as of yet.

Keep one at the office, one in the car w/ batteries loaded.

Its just in case you forgot to bring your charger or cant charge for some reason.

I own 3 or 4 and yah, they collect dust. But once i used it and saved me.

Agree with #3-sure they collect dust, but when you do need them, they usually pay for themselves.

Buy two. Connect them together and use them as nunchucks.

I actually popped this into my older Garmin C330 GPS when it was running out of juice and it got me safely back home! Have I used it again afterwards.... no

These are great to keep around and the first time you 'need' one of these, they're worth every bacon double bacon burger!

I have like 3 wall chargers, one that I keep in my laptop bag, 5-6 USB2 cables that go everywhere including in the car w/one of those USB to car adapters - I can't think where I'd be that I'd need one of these except for camping. And even then I end up driving somewhere sometime in that week. I guess I could see getting one of these if I was a heavy backpacker.

I got a couple last year - ehh $6 and lightweight for that one in a thousand time when the car and battery die and the cell phone is low on juice. One in the glove compartment, and I'm carrying one in the bottom of one of my cargo pants pockets for some unknown reason. I guess if I go somewhere and forget to pack the charger or something.

Even for me who doesn't use the cell much and often forgets to charge it up, I'm pretty unlikely to use it even once in 5 years. Still, cheap and lightweight, not a lot of downside - and that one use would be pretty comforting.

this is a great idea , however you cannot keep the batteries in the unit long term (in your car) because the batteries will corode esp. if you live in weather that is changing or wetter climates

I think I need one for my G1 Sad. I kill my battery after 5 hours of moderate usage....if I just use it as a phone then and web surfing intermittently then its fine but blah.

Trouble is i'd have to throw an expensive Lithium AA in it to trusy it, knowing how long it would be sitting. And those come in 2-packs....
