Costco has the Food For Health Emergency Food Kit on sale for $75 with free shipping. The weather proof bucket of emergency food has 275 vitamin fortified vegetarian servings and a 20 year shelf life. Perfect for natural disaster preparation, on a camping trip, or living in a van down by the river.
Must have water and a heat source - water will be a issue if it comes to this - better off buy military MRE's - and G.Gorden Liddy tells me i also need gold - i wonder were he buys his ??
The assumed "meal" sizes are a bit small but a bucket should be just enough to feed one adult for a couple of months. It might not be fun eating it but it beats boiling your belt when your belly is empty. I keep 3 of these, a couple of cases of canned food, 3 LP gas tanks for the grill, a months supply of bottled water and two WaterBOBs. Laugh it up but I'll have a full belly during the same disaster that will see you boiling your shoes for dinner.
Or alternatively I'll enjoy a big new HDTV with the money I would have spent on all that stuff for my long and movie disaster free life.
And about the bucket, seems like it's basically tiny cans of soup, some fake milk, and some pancake mix. Also the shelf life is only 10 years if stored at room temperature.
#5 why do you need LP gas tanks when this stuff enables you to produce as much methane as you need? No, when 2012 comes along I'll go out in style with ice cold champagne, smoked salmon, fresh bagels with cream cheese and one of those huge 'totally decadent chocolate' cakes that Costco make so well. No lingering death for me and I will have change from $75.
#8 If they bought this they also bought guns. They also practiced with their guns and will gladly shoot you and yours and then add a little protein to their veggie meals. YUMMY! Or just toss your carcass to their dogs who aren't as picky about the meat they eat.
#7 I guess you don't live in hurricane zones, or any place that you might be snowed in, or any place that ever has earthquakes, or any other natural disasters and I'm happy for you. But don't come to me if something happens - you're too smart to ask for help anyway. Meanwhile I'm going to watch my HDTV and sleep well knowing I'm prepared.
#12 is correct - #8 has a great future as dog food.
Hey I'm an old guy. Why buy something that has a longer shelf-life than I do?
And come to think of it: are you going to break the seal by opening it when you get it, or will you wait until your disaster to discover you've been had?
The question is not is it ok as described, the question is do you want to eat this and die slowly from months of diarrhea. This is fine if your digestive tract is used to mostly rehydrated vegetables, but if that isn't your typical diet, bring along some toilet paper, and more too.
Whatever you are used to eating, be it a good diet or bad, that is what you should stockpile because in a crisis situation you won't be ready to deal with the shock that comes from suddenly trying to eat healthy. If you want to eat healthy it is great, do it now instead of waiting till life depends on food in a bucket because at that point you will be too busy battling zombies to deal with diarrhea.
that better be a bucket of wings or else NO DEAL!
Living in a van down by the river rocks!!!
But, if it comes to living off of this crap, I'll just throw myself into the nearest highly radiated wave...

Sorry, but this is not a steady diet of government cheese. Vans by the river need not apply.

#3, wire the money over to my Bank of Nigeria account and I'll send you the gold.

I'll use my gun to steal my neighbor's.

This is what Fry buys when he's unable to afford Bachelor Chow.
#10 ramen is still cheaper if you buy it in bulk.

In Cali when Jerry Brown overturns Prop 13 this state will look like a homeless war zone. Load up on these buckets now!

I'll just nibble on a few fat people. Lord knows there'll be enough of them with the current state of American obesity.
20 year shelf life?
It must be full of Twinkies

2012 Here I come!!!
#18, I'd worry more about impaction worse than diarrhea. Medicines to handle both are an important part of your survival kit, too.
