Costco has the Food For Health Vegetarian Emergency Food Supply on sale for $75 with free shipping. The weather proof bucket of emergency food has 275 vitamin fortified vegetarian servings and a 20 year shelf life. Perfect for natural disaster preparation, times of civil unrest/social upheaval, camping trips, or living in a van down by the river.
Hmmm, this is usually where I would inset a joke or sarcastic comment. But I'm seriously thinking of buying one.
I guess only vegetarian's will survive natural disaster/civil unrest/social upheaval
Seems like a good deal. This would also be good for a college student.
I would have thought that food like this would cause civil unrest rather than help one cope with it.
Clearly the prepared gentleman has a hamper packed for such an emergency with life's indispensables such as some beluga caviar, aged Gruyere and Gouda, some Chateau Margaux and maybe some Brunello. Don't forget some Krug Champagne as well as Chase Vodka (served in appropriate glasses, naturally).
Last of all is the most important item: a resourceful manservant.
This is Only for amatures ,
Everyone else know all you need is .
A lot of Beef jerky , Slim Jims ,
Ramen , and Cambles soup, any flavor ...
That with a Keg of Beer , will keep you alive for a while ...
Oh , and don't forget the Chips ...
Not bad, but remember you need clean water and a heat source. Personally I find canned goods easier, quicker, can be eaten cold and except for the high sodium and sugar are a source of *clean* water too. They're a bit heavy and bulky though if going in a bug-out bag.
A couple tubs of that whey protein /deal would be a good supplement for this.

This would be more my speed.
Shelf Reliance THRIVEâ„¢ Ultimate Meat & Protein Supply
good call, cuz that's only $650...
You should probably pass on these for emergency food, as each portion needs to boil for 25 minutes. That might be a problem in an actual emergency.... unless the zombies bring propane tanks.
This might explain why the military etc use MRE, and not 25 minute in boiling water stuff
This would be more my speed.

1,377 servings but only 88 are bacon?
And thus...Bachelor Chow was born! Futurama is one World War a way!
How many hours of "toilet time" would ensue after eating from this Emergency Food bucket?
Do you people really want to continue living an extra few weeks after all civilization has been eradicated? I don't.
#13 hasn't watched the alternative endings for I AM Legend.
Requires water and heat source. If there is a nuclear disaster, you may not want to use the water; but it will be heated.
Can you wear this like a feed bag?
#12, no need for a toilet, note the large bucket that's included.
#7, think I'll pass on that deal, after reading this:
Of course, the number of servings won't really be 275 on Ben's deal, since the average (FAT) American eats 3 servings per meal, which will take this down to a more realistic ~92 servings.
#18 even taking something that is high calorie for a vegetable like kidney beans, one cup is only 218 calories. The typical adult male who isn't overweight has a daily caloric requirement near ~2500 which would be 11.5 servings.
You definitely need something in case of disaster. Save money and put together your own pack. http://www.ready.gov/
