I bought two of these the last time they were featured.

Two problems: The gooseneck is not really strong enough to hold the weight. You can rig it so it won't fall, but it's not easy.

2 - Only 9 of the LEDS work - on both of the ones I ordered. That's not really enough for me to return them, as the 9 provide plenty of light.

Not bad, though. I've seen a lot worse.

I've no idea why anyone would need these, but the description is hokey. Supposedly they claim 1W based on a Killawatt meter but it can't accurately detect 1W. In other words, anywhere between 0.50W and 1.49W would register 1W.

The disturbing part about this is you can actually arrive at the wattage scientifically, mathematically if you know what LEDs and resistor(s) are in it. Anyway, it seems to be coincidence that it might actually be close to 1W because those are 10 x 100mW LEDs inside.

Remaining problem is that only tells you it's about 200mA current, not how much light (these little encapsulated 100mW LEDs are not as efficient as a top shelf brand 1 x 1W LED. I suppose that's ok for this application, if you're really trying to light a keyboard then it needs be a wider light spread. Then again, turning up the brightness on the laptop screen is usually sufficient to light it up enough unless it's poorly marked and you don't know the key positions.

How the burp does this thing draw 1W (1000ma) from a USB port if the maximum is 500ma?
