HandHelditems.com has the EPA Certified Motorized Bicycle Engine 80cc kit for $140 - coupon code handheld10 [Exp 12/31] + $13 shipping = $126 shipped. An 80cc motor can get you to 25-40MPH and can get about 100-150 mpg.

Not to condone or condemn creativity in reducing drunk driving convictions, it's likely more than a technicality whether a uni- or bicycle is a vehicle for pruposes of DUIIs.

And, not to be belligerent, but the first time some putz tries to squeeze past me in a bike lane on one of these, I'm taken him/her down.

Better have a pretty solid frame to retrofit the bike with a motor. Then you'd have to upgade the brakes to handle the new load. By the time you are done upgrading, it'll probably safer and less expensive to buy a decent moped.

Not bad for conserving gas, but I agree with previous posts - it's bad pollution for the environment. Lots of ppl (including myself) have a motorcycle and it's the same idea. Good gas mileage, more pollutants.

Keep in mind that along with the other negatives mentioned, often a consumer class engine like this is rated for about 50 hours use. That doesn't mean it'll die on hour 51 but don't plan on getting as much use out of it as you would a scooter with a better 49cc engine in it.

I would only put this on a sturdy mountain bike. maybe with some upgrades like disc brakes.
