No longer see the point of these devices, a netbook is cheap enough and with a 10hr battery life it fills the void.

Agree -- there is no reason at all to buy this box, way too expensive.

The point originally was to store images to clear up memory cards w/out taking a laptop along. They are way overpriced for that function, imho, since cards are cheap enough to have several with you at all times. Also, the screens on most DSLRs are large enough to obviate equipment like this.

The remaining reason to buy one was to make uploading easier, but card readers are dirt cheap. What would make sense is to have it act as a mobile notebook HD case so you could swap out several HDs easily for mass storage. As it stands, I don't think it would be easy to change drives in a device like this, so it's not that useful.

A $480 notebook would give you much more bang for the buck!

I'd pay up to about $50 for something like this.

I am just scratching my head trying to figure out why Ben would post this. I understand that many of his "deals" aren't that great, but this is a sky high price for an obsolete piece of equipment.

Wow, that's pricey for a media player.

This is overpriced for what it can do. While media cards are so cheap you don't have to dump them onto a device like this to make space, I have a Wolverine device that I backup every card onto. Just in case something happens to the original.

Here's my real question- Why don't all DSLRs or upper end POS cameras come with multiple SD slots and a simple backup procedure. Even without a backup solution, why can't I put two SD cards in? Cameras like the Nikon D3X have it - lets start seeing it on more cameras.
