Ben doesn't mention that tis will print on CD's.
Hmm..., got this same printer from Buy.com a couple months ago, free. There was a similar $75 rebate, and an additional $30 "bonus" rebate, and free ship at that time. While this is a decent price, I've been holding out on this new Epson rebate for the possibility of a similar deal. So far, no dice. But if you don't really need it now, you might consider the same.
Btw, those keychain digicams work for this deal, been done over and over again, myself included. Most have no serial #, some don't even have a UPC. Doesn't matter, if it has a UPC, put that in for the serial #. If there's not even a UPC, just put in "N/A". It doesn't matter, Epson is aware not all digicams have a serial #, so they don't actually require it. If it still troubles you, make one up, there's no means to verify anyway.
whats the cost per print?
This $70 rebate will work with other vendors. Last time, ended up using newegg.com.
hmm... i having problem printing photo on a epson.. comes out blurry...
Shipping for the printer is now $23.50.
Ink can get pretty expensive. *smirk*
These print very nice photographs. Got 1 for a friend for about $14 after rebates and bonus.
I did have a lot of problems with my previous CX5400 with generic inks since the damn DuraBrite inks are pigment based. I experienced clogs with the generics that were pigment based inks, though I had no problem with original Epson carts, but the originals are way to expensive to justify using the printer instead of just replacing it. So I did with an RX500 & R320 a little later which use dye based inks.
I have had my Epson R320 & RX500 for a few years now. They both take the same exact ink carts! Great printers, and the ink is very cheap because you can easily use generics without a problem in those dye based printers, so for less than $12 I can fill the printer with new carts!
Since the Claria ink used in these is a dye based ink, I'm sure you could probably use generics without problem as well, and cut way down on ink cost ... maybe even go to the CIS type carts and really cut down on the cost of ink if you print a lot!
Besides the issue of ink cost, ya know what really irks me about these color printers (at least Canon, which I know far better than Epson). My Canon color inkjets always seem to consume a little bit of color, even when I'm only printing black & white. Even putting the driver in grayscale mode doesn't help. Add to that, some of them will not print if any of the cartridges are empty. What's up w/ that? Between this, and the use of chipsets that expire perfectly good ink, or prevent refills, etc., these printer companies are some of the worst when it comes to ethical behavior. So much of the printing business is a scam.
