I picked one up, works OK. The scanner is decent enough, my Canon 8400F scanner edges it out on color rendition, but for non-critical use, good enough.

All I can tell you is that it's NOT the one for the R340 per my bulk ink supplier, and confirmed by some independent research (my R340 died, I couldn't find a replacement, so had to get the RX595 - which uses a different print engine - and had to eat the bulk ink and refillable carts I had from the 340).

don't buy EPSON! they had so many problems w/ their multi-function is not even funny. Ink will dramatically decrease every time you clean the head. Inks are expensive. Hardware issues. EPSON has good customer service though, they will mail you another junk multi-function just so that you then later have same problems. Did I mention, DON'T BUY EPSON, stick w/ Canon & HP.

I bought one of these several months ago on sale for $80 to replace my old Epson 1270 printer and old UMax 1200 scanner. The RX595 blows away both of them. However, to replace all of the ink cartridges costs about $125 -- more than the cost of the printer itself.

In reply to #2: http://www.supersmartelectronics.com/servlet/the-9/Continuous-bulk-Ink-CISS/Detail (this ink works great and is cheap)

#5 - why on earth would you buy Epson ink? There are plenty of good cheap aftermarket alternatives, even if you want to buy prefilled carts instead of filling your own. If you are willing to refill, you can get a set of blank cartridges and 4 oz of each color of ink for under $70.

not all ink quality is the same if you are planning on printing photos. most will fade over time. epson supposedly has fade resistant ink that should last for 100yrs. if you just want to print out directions and maps then go for the cheapy inks.

#8 I used the supposed 100year offical ink and after 3 years the picture is horribly fading. I even used epson photo paper as well. I drank the kool-aid with epson ink. if you can get the ink cheaper somewhere else do it.
