      My dad used to fly gas-powered RC airplanes and I would sometimes go to the airfield and watch him fly, and for a brief time I got interested in the hobby and flew my own plane. The gas-powered engines on most RC planes don't have built-in starters, so you have to spin the prop sorta fast to make them start. One day at the airfield, I saw a guy attempt to prop start his plane with a stick, and the prop kicked back and cut off his thumb. It was hanging on by a little piece of meat and blood was squirting out like something you'd see in a horror film. I sold my RC gear a couple of weeks later.

      That sounds awful--but I've never even heard of that happening before (but I do believe you!). Those nitro engines are very problematic, anyway. These newer electric planes and helis are so much easier-- I think it because batteries are much better these days.

      The reviews say it all;

      "I would reccomend that no one wastes their money on this plane. I guess you get what you pay for! Great experience but terrible product.

      Go to a real hobby shop if you are at all interested in RC. They will point you in the best direction for a beginner and help you find local clubs so you can learn the proper way to fly and not waste your $ in the 3.5 seconds it takes you to crash and burn.

      My friend's styrofoam jet-like planes with the elctric motors are amazing. You can toss 'em up in the air with one hand and off they go. I flew it the first time I ever touched an rc. Climbing up vertically like an F14 and to land, just stall it up and gently lands (plops) on the grass. The beginner models are relatively inexpensive. He has up to 350.00 in some of his however.

      Electric motoe planes fly for 10 seconds andthen have to be recharged for 8 hours. They suck.
