eBay with 1SaleADay has the ETQ IN1800i 3.4HP Portable Generator w/ 1600W Peak Power (Green) for $225 with free shipping. Features a 3.4HP 86CC motor, low oil shut-off protection, and 1 gallon fuel capacity.
This generator has a few pluses and minuses. On the plus side, it is an inverter generator, which means you should get "clean" enough power to safely operate electronics, even a full-sized TV or desktop computer. Also it is 4-stroke so you don't have to mix the gas and oil (the Duracell one previously offered on Ben's was a 2-stroke and I don't recommend this for generators). Surge is only 200 watts more than peak continuous power, but it will run for 4.5 hours at half load and only use a gallon of fuel.
On the down side, 70 dB is just a little loud and nowhere near in the same class as the smaller Honda generators of the same power. But then again the price difference between a Honda and this one will be significant.
This would be a good choice for home emergency power or camping, but unless you had a really long extension cord don't expect to get much sleep with it running nearby and it doesn't have enough oomph to power a frig, window A/C unit, or an RV A/C unit.
^ Have to have one very thick extension cord. I've been unable to get a drill to go more than half speed using a 12ga 80' cord with something twice as powerful as this.
2 strokes generally have a higher power to weight ratio though.
Ok, google mule. That's not "efficiency" that I speak of. Yes, we were both referring to how efficient of the noise it makes. You are correct.... (I kid)
If you're going as far to say something like that, you must explain yourself. In some aspect, yes, 4 stroke is more efficient, but in a single statement message board, NO.
It's all there, black and white, clear as crystal. You stole fizzy lifting drinks. You bumped into the ceiling which now has to be washed and sterilized, so you get nothing. You lose! Good day, sir!
See # of strokes in context. For high portability and short duration use choose a 2 stroke, and 4 stroke for most uses.
This one isn't really meant as a home backup power generator, too small for that and without a need to lug it around then an open frame type will run cooler.
your hairdryer can use 1500+ watts. so dont be expecting to plug much into this.

2 strokes are more fuel efficient
70db is not bad
Quite the opposite actually, 4 strokes are more fuel efficient. 2 strokes generally have a higher power to weight ratio though.
ALL small gens. must be tested as son as recvd. for proper voltage at the rated output. Many/most will fail this test and S/B retd. as unacceptable.
