Great headphones. GREAT sound.
They do require that you purchase filters from their site. The filters help keep the ear wax off the drivers.
Also tough to wear on the plane because of pressurization...your ears don't pop as well because you need a good seal to get noise cancellation.
They are actually very god in the noise cancellation area mainly because they stop up your ears like earplugs.
Still pretty expensive compared to many high quality earbuds out there.
Sennheiser CX300s pop up for about $20 on Ben's every couple weeks and I have both the etymotic and the sennheiser.
I wouldn't pay more for the etymotic. It is not $60 worth of noise isolation. Once I paid that much I kept them, too much trouble sending stuff back but in my opinion, the CX300s would do the same job if they had the thinner, more cone-like plastic buds.
