I've decided to upgrade from my Radeon HD 4870 but I don't know which card to get. I really only play BF3 (and BF4 in the future) but I currently have (2) monitors and would like to upgrade to (3). If I do get another monitor then it would be nice to have an Eyefinity setup with a new GPU, depending on the price. I was looking at Toms and think the AMD 6870 might work but I haven't paid much attention to video cards in a long time and I'm out of the loop.
If only about BF3 and multi-monitor, budget permitting the GTX 670 is the sweet spot. Nvidia rules that title having something to do with GK104-based cards and drivers resolved BF3 issues found in older Nvidia GPUs
So I need a $300 gpu to run Eyefinity with BF3 (at decent frame rates)? In that case, I'm not that interested, lol. What would give me a decent increase over my 4870? I was eyeing that 7770 deal for $90 AR that was here a little bit ago, that would at least give me a little bump, no? Plus that uses less power, gives off less heat and supports 3-4 monitors (I believe).
While those reviews above would indicate that without knowing the resolution you intend to wind up with thats the perceived information, it a very demanding title. A single 7770 won't provide much increase though it does on power. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gaminbaconraphics-card-review,3107-7.html
I would be running 1920x1080. Plus I'm not even sure if my motherboard (M4A785TD-V EVO) could handle 2x 7770's. Would it be better for me to pick up a 7770 on sale, then wait to upgrade my motherboard and then pick up another 7770 to run in Crossfire? Or just spend the money on a single GPU? Crossfiring 2x 7770's would that be able to run Eyefiniity well enough for BF3?
That mobo provides you the C-F option. By one 7770 now and see a little boost and get to play it at Dx11, while saving power. Then when you get to wanting that 3rd monitor and good FPS on Eyefinity grab a second card.
Thought I'd add this as a 6770 was only slightly behind this GTX550ti (with the free performance boost) mainly in regards to DX11 tessellation... But is 25% less in the end as there’s No Rebate. Looking for a good entry level card that doesn’t have pry bar at your wallet!
Wow it has dropped $2 in 13 months... get real! Should be $80 or less after $10 rebate.
Is this a good deal/card?

No not any increase over a 4870, check Tom's Hierarchy.
When it comes to BF3 while someday wanting multi-monitor, but can't swing $400 for a GTX670 you can always wait and see what Nvidia can finally release as their $300 card (GTX660ti) in a few weeks. Though if not looking to wait and want to hold to about $300; youre probably best looking at a Sapphire 7870 Flex which are like $310.

Mainstream gaming rig isnt really going to give you immersive result at high resolutions (Nvidia 3D Surround or Eyefinity), while to run Nvidia 3D Surround with 5XX Fermi you need two cards in SLI.
Right now the budget option for BF3 is 7770 CrossFire if you have a mobo that offers it. That gets you GTX580, 6970,7950 territory. Especially if 1680x is where you'll be holding for a while, they're offering huge BfB. Along with as the entry VGA into Multi-monitor gaming set-ups.

I mean to even think of playing BF3 at 1920x1080 4xMSAA, 16xAF, ultra quality and have give 44 Fps for about $200!

C-F option, does that mean one slot is ok and the other is junk? lol
Yeah, that sounds like what I'm going to do, I'll pick up a 7770 for
