I've used the uv16 version of this (same company, but the uv16 is newer and has higher resolution.)

I'm not a fan of the display link drivers... actually by "not a fan" i mean "they suck ass"

but the device itself, once it is working, works well.

Not that I'm in the market for one of these, but I wonder if the drivers for this device will load on a display-less Windows Home Server box?

the drivers are chipset independent - display link doesn't get tied to any GPU, instead the cpu does the rendering.. its not suitable for high res, gaming, or video, but for a simple display - would be.

for my windows home server box, (hp mediasmart) i have a small sub-monitor (9") set up just to monitor things - uses the same displaylink drivers - plugs into usb and works fine.

Looks like an over-sized power button to me.
