I saw price and said... what??? for an SD card... then noticed the wifi. OK this gets my cool gadget vote.
i have been wanting to buy one of these, the convenience is definitely there but the write speeds on these cards are really slow.
Even though I have one that I use to upload to iPad for viewing purposes, I may pick this one up and write Home on it. That is, I'd have it preconfigured to upload RAWs to my NAS unit over my home Wifi.
You basically have to assign it's purpose from your computer beforehand. Until you can choose network destinations directly on your camera, this is necessary.
My Canon T3i does support the eyefi directly in the menus, but with the option to turn on and off only (battery power) and see network connectivity. That's as far as it goes.
I haven't messed with custom firmwares however. Never know what's possible with that. Anyone any experience with that?
They should just build this feature into every camera > $100.
