I just wanted to add - Why would anyone want to pay $100 for a Seagate HD without a warrant?

For our after-the-freaking-disc-plant-flood world this is actually a pretty good price. Too bad I'm set to only use 2 TB drives. They are still not showing signs of returning to normal price.

If you already had an array with 1.5TB members and one failed, the warranty may not matter as much as getting the array back how it belongs. Eventually most people will cave, in some way or another since the HDDs they have don't last forever and storage needs still grow.
