my regular fantom drive had western digital in it. don't know about fantom green.

Are the drives inside refurbished/reconditioned or something? Why is it a 1TB external drive cheaper than buying a regular (non-external) 1TB drive alone??
its cause of the 20 dollar rebate...and we all know with rebates, you should be prepared to pay the price of what is not included in the rebate because those things are a 50/50 chance of getting your rebate check
#4: it's not. I just bought a Hitachi 1TB hard drive for $67 AR w/ free shipping at ZZF.
I'd guess from the "green" in the name of this drive that this is one of the WD Green hard drives. So, it spins at 5400RPM. This won't affect transfer rates if you're using the USB connection.
Great price for a 1tb external. Mine has a WD green in it.
It has a WD GreenPower drive in it. Quiet, low heat, works really well. This has been the going price for many months.
