Anyone know what kind of drive is inside? brand, rpm,.etc. Thanks
I dunno, but I'm wondering when they'll be releasing USB 0
Regardless the kind of drive is inside, the review tells the whole story of the drive's performance. Most users are happy with this unit GreenDrive and the regular one. Believe it or not, rating is higher than typical brand-name like Seagate and Western Digital ones.
I thought it was a western digital green drive inside.
Just brought a 1TB Samsung "Green" HD the other day.
I think all brand are green now.
The Spec. Sheet on the Fantom site says the spin speed of the platters are variable depending on usage and necessity.
Lots of good end user ratings.
Been personally running this drive since Dec 2008 (found the deal online here back then..but for $100). Been very pleased with the drive. Runs very cool. Fires up fast and runs very quiet. The only thing you need to be careful about is the rebate. I got my rebate but you need to read everything and follow it to the letter carefully. It's not as simple as cut the UPC and mail it in. You have to "Register and Request" the rebate form. Then print the form. Mail everything in and it takes easily 12 weeks. But again it did come for me and my rebate was $30.
I do highly recommend this drive if you are considering one.
also keep in mind, is that this drive does not come with the esata cable. the GDII1000EU does, but this just comes with the usb cable.
#8 is correct. Don't be disappointed when it shows up without the eSata cable. I recommend monoprice or neweeg for the cable. It does however come with the USB cable, but I'm in for the eSata feature.
i have two of these attached to my windows home server. I have them hooked up through estata (yes, i had to buy the esata cables separately). they are great. quiet, automatic spin down to save power, very little heat, the power bricks are only warm to the touch.
not that great looking of a case.
just stay away from Cavalier hard drives. my enclosure started smoking - i think i'm going to replace it with a fantom
I'm looking for a 1-1.5 TB external drive... is this one decent? Any recommendations?
