Today only. Amazon has Farscape: The Complete Series DVD Box Set for $50 with free shipping. Stars Ben Browder as John Crichton, an astronaut stuck in a galaxy far far away. It is a period of civil war. Rebel spaceships, striking... oh, wrong franchise.

Love this series. Too bad I can't spend any more money after Christmas.

Too bad it isn't in BlueRay.. or some Amazon VOD-like service. If it's gonna be on optical, it should really be on optical, it should be on blue ray.

#2, the series had a committed but small fan base. There probably wouldn't be enough sales to support the costs of transferring the series to Blu-ray. These things in the end are business decisions.

#3 I would put my money on Stargate, The X Files and hopefully Farscape all being released on Blu-ray this year.
By the by BBC America are broadcasting The X Files in HD starting with S1 E1 this week. They have done a good job with transferring Doctor Who and an OK one for Torchwood IMHO.

#4, I'll only point out that the BBC owns the rights to Dr. Who and Torchwood, so no messy negotiating with the original owners. Also, both series were very popular in Britain, and were well-received in other countries too. IIRC, X-Files lasted nine seasons (I only watched the first five before losing interest), generated two movies and influenced other series like Fringe; Stargate SG-1 lasted ten seasons (I think that I've now watched almost all of these), had two movies and two series that were spin-offs (Atlantis and Universe). You can count on all these series to have a committed and fairly large fan base. If the price is right for a Blu-ray set, you might even bring in new viewers based on the reputation of these shows. I don't believe that Farscape has that kind of appeal, but I wouldn't object to being wrong. Have a good day.
