Office Max has the Finnigan Leather Executive Chair for $100 with free shipping. Features bonded leather surfaces, pneumatic height adjustment, tilt-tension adjustment and metal armrests.
you get what you pay for, bonded leather does not last go for real leather for a bit more for a chair that will last 10+ years. I purchased a real leather chair executive chair for my office in 2001 and still a great chair. I purchased a bonded leather chair which was cheaper, for my home office in early 2007. The chair held up well until about a year ago and the bonded leather in the seats started peeling up so the seat itself is nothing but the cloth the bonded leather was aheard too, still works but ugly as sin.now whats funny is the back rest and arm rest are just fine its just the seat that gave way...hmmm could it be me, lol
^ I agree about longevity but it's not just a bit more. You can't get something like this in leather for $200, though in spending more you tend to get better cushioning, a sturdier frame, better casters, etc. too.
The reason the seat gave way is that when you sit down it stretches, and bends at the edges, except that after a few years of UV exposure it won't stretch or flex too well anymore.
Get a yard of cloth from the fabric store and reupholster the bottom. Add a layer of carpet padding while you're at it to restore the fluff, or pillow batting or memory foam if you want to get fancy. If it doesn't have a wood base to staple it down, use tacks or gorilla glue.
thanks dave I may give that a shot at redoing the seat, its a Jeep Chair and they dont make them any more so sure dont want to give it up as its very comfortable.
