Blockbuster.com has their online rental service Free for your first month, then $10 per month for their 2-DVD plan, or $19.99 per month for their unlimited plan. You get unlimited online rentals (3 out at a time) with free shipping, no return dates. You also get 5 in-store movie exchanges/month.
Netflix may be slicker and faster for most. BUT, for me. Blockbuster has been hands down the best for renting only new releases. Since I got "grandfathered" at the 3-2-1 package for $19.99.
Plan works like this every month:
On Tuesdays, I get up to 3 new releases mailed or swapped in store(6 dvd or blu-ray).
2 coupons for pre-viewed dvd's $9.99 or less(TO KEEP)
1 coupon for free game or movie rental.
Granted this deal is gone for new sign ups, but with a B&M blockbuster just down the street from me. I have actually been able to make money being with them.
and i #3, i don't see how that is "making money" considering you're forced to rent things that you would have otherwise not rented.
it's like when you have a coupon for $10 off to try a meal at a new restaurant... you can think of that as "making $10," but chances are you might not have even eaten there in the first place without the coupon
Friends and neighbors give me few bucks here and there to rent movies or buy the previewed ones I don't want. Average month, I may watch 8 or so movies out of a possible 24 or more chances.
So I sell 2 $10 movies for $5 that is $10 for me. I pickup few movies for others...they give me spare change.
See where it is going. I usually break even on membership, occasionally I make a few bucks. Not how they intended it to be used, but they set it up, not me. I even save on gas, since I have to pass the store on the way to work.
Or, you know, your local library probably has the same movies, and lets you check out five at a time for five days. For free.
#1 -- you are wrong. My local library has in general a much better selection, with the exception of latest releases which come there later.

#5, Yo holmes you got it all figured out. You be bustin up Blockbuster real good.
Netflix > Walmart (unless you only want to see the newest releases)
why can't we all just get our movies from usenet like intelligent people?
no movies to watch lately
