I have owned almost every brand of reel mower out there and this is the most powerful one by far. My lot is 9,000 sq. ft. and this mower makes quick work of mowing my yard. Level is not a big deal. You just do not want bumpy. This is a heavy mower for a reel mower (and that is a good thing), but still when the yard is bumpy it can bounce a little and give you an uneven cut. The biggest downfall to reel mower are weeds. It does not mow tall floppy things well. They are just pushed over.
Most people only use their reel mower a few times because they buy a crappy one. This is a good one and will work well on most lawns.
