This appears to be a knockoff of the amazing gorillapod (I think that's what it is called). Not sure if the knock-off will be as good or have as tight a grip, but it may be worth trying... although at $6 + $7 for shipping you might as well go with the real thing from your local camera or electronics store...
you can get a flexible mini desk tripod for 1.99 at microcenter
Nowhere near the same. Those are "flexible" in that they can bend. This can wrap around a pole or anything else to hold your camera to it. The "flexible" tripod #2 is talking about still needs to be put on top of something.
